Leela Bhupalam, MD, joined the practice in August of 2006.
Dr. Bhupalam was born in South India where she did her undergraduate degree and medical school and graduated from the University of Karnataka in December, 1982. Dr. Bhupalam is a Hematologist/Oncologist who has practiced in Louisville, Kentucky, since 1997. Dr. Bhupalam is board certified in Internal Medicine/Medical Oncology.
Dr. Bhupalam did a residency in Psychiatry and then switched to Internal Medicine. Subsequently she did a three-year fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Louisville. She joined the faculty at the University of Louisville as Assistant Professor in January, 1997, teaching and doing patient care and research. She served as the Deputy Director of Medical Oncology at Veterans Administration Hospital and the Director of Head and Neck Medical Oncology at the University of Louisville.
Dr. Bhupalam has a long interest in clinical research. She has been the principal investigator of many investigator initiated clinical trials, intergroup selenium and vitamin E chemoprevention trial sponsored by the National Cancer Institute, and along with her partners is active in national cooperative research groups, such as CALGB, NSABP, Sarah Cannon Research Institute.
Dr. Bhupalam is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, the Kentucky Medical Association, and the Jefferson County Medical Society.
