Physician Emeritus: Manuel Grimaldi, MD

Manuel Grimaldi, MD was born in Spain where he did his undergraduate and doctoral medical work and graduated from the University of Seville Medical School in 1971. He then served as a Junior Medical Officer in the Spanish Army Medical Corps and a Medical Clinical Clerk at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Rota, Spain in 1971-72.

In 1972, Dr. Grimaldi moved to the United States and completed a rotating internship and Internal Medicine residence at St. Joseph's Infirmary in Louisville, Kentucky from 1972 to 1975 and then served as a fellow in Hematology and Oncology at the Department of Medicine at the University of Louisville Affiliated Hospitals from 1975 to 1977.  He became board certified in Internal Medicine (1976) and Medical Oncology (1977) and joined the practice of Drs. Beard, Fuller and Dobbs currently known as CBC in 1977. Since 1981 he has held a clinical appointment at the University of Louisville Department of Medicine.

Dr. Grimaldi is a member of the several professional organizations including the American College of Physicians (FACP), the American Medical Association, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Internal Medicine, the Kentucky Medical Association, the Jefferson County Medical Society, the Kentucky Association of Medical Oncology, and the Louisville Society of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Grimaldi is married to Encarnita and has three grown children. He is a member of St. Raphael, the Archangel Catholic community in Louisville.

Still an active influence and invaluable advisor to our Board of Directors, Dr. Grimaldi retired at the close of May, 2007.
