Physician Emeritus: Charles L. Dannaher, MD Charles L. Dannaher, MD, is a hematologist/oncologist who is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology. He joined CBC in 1985. He is a graduate of Bellarmine University and the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. Postgraduate training took place at the University of Louisville where he did his medical internship and internal medicine residency, and then served as chief resident in internal medicine. He then completed a fellowship in hematology and oncology. Following his fellowship, he was assistant professor of medicine at the University of Louisville from 1976 to 1979. He continues there as clinical associate professor of medicine and has been in private practice since 1979. Dr. Dannaher has been a member of several regional and national cancer research groups including the Southeast Cancer Study Group where he chaired the renal cancer trial. He has been a member of the North Central Cancer Treatment Group, CALGB, and the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project. He is a past-director of the American Cancer Society Mid-South Division. Dr. Dannaher is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, American Medical Association and the Louisville Society of Internists. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. He is a recipient of the St. George Medal Nation Award from the American Cancer Society for outstanding contributions to cancer control. Dr. Dannaher is also active at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and serves on the Trinity High School Foundation Board, and is a trustee of Presentation Academy. After 23 years of service to CBC, Dr. Dannaher recently retired in September, 2008. He remains a vital and important member of CBC as an advisor and consultant to our Board of Directors.
